Aimee Allen

Montana Aimee developed her appreciation for many types of music, singing in clubs, from Punk to Hip Hop. At first glance, Aimee Allen piques curiosity with a face resembling a perfect blend of Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears, but performs pounding Hip Hop beats, crushing guitars, and Ani-like lyrics delivered with the raw emotion of Kurt Cobain and the raspy wail of Janis Joplin. Aimee’s canceled Elektra release in 2002, “I’d Start a Revolution, if I Could Get Up in the Morning,” featured Spider as co-writer of five songs and producer of four. Other producers include Mark Ronson and Don Gilmore.

I LOVE Aimee Allen. This unofficial album (it was never released) has got to be one of my favourites. It’s this odd mashup of rock, rap and hiphop. “I’m more man than you’ll ever be.”

The Spill Canvas

The Spill Canvas, imo is an amazing band. I don’t know if this is just because I’ve listened to them for years, but I stand by their potential. Lyrically they surpass most bands with with catchy metaphors (“Oh the chemistry between us could destroy this place.”) A lot of these sort of bands that  I listened to during my teenage years I only pop out occassionally for nostalgia’s sake, but this is one band I just listen to because they’re just that good. Girl Talk is the stage name of Gregg Gillis (born October 26, 1981). Gillis, who is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has released four CD albums on Illegal Art and vinyl releases on 333 and 12 Apostles. He began making music while a student at Case Western Reserve University. He specializes in sample-based remixes, in which he uses at least a dozen elements from different songs to create a new song.

Introducing “Girl Nobody”

Vancouver’s Girl Nobody formed in 1999 and has since become one of the few bands that can offer cerebral charm and sexual bravado within a lullaby of pop swoon, all the while continually stretching musical parameters. The band’s stunning live shows, along with their critically acclaimed self-released debut album The Future Isn’t What It Used To Be (2004), proved that the hype Girl Nobody had been generating was warranted.

Sounds like: Tapping the Vein, Sneaker Pimps and something else sexy all rolled into one.

Porcelain and the tramps

Porcelain and the Tramps is an industrial rock band from Detroit, Michigan, but working from LA, California. Singer/songwriter, Alaina Beaton is the only official member of the band, though she is currently in the studio with John Lowery (more commonly known as John 5 – the current guitarist for industrial band Rob Zombie, and former guitarist for rock group Marilyn Manson), producers Lester Mendez and Bobby Huff, among others.

Thus far the band has not released any recorded material, other than a number of songs that are featured on the band’s numerous social networking sites, such as their myspace. It is expected that these songs will form the backbone of the album that is currently being worked on. Cited influences include Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, Tori Amos, Pantera, Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, Nirvana and Hole.

Jason Mraz- The Dynamo Of Volition

A singer-songwriter originally from Mechanicsville, Virginia, USA, Mraz set out for the big city, attending a performing arts college in New York City. Realizing the competitive nature of the musical theater world he paired his innate desire to perform his own material, Mraz picked the guitar at age 18 and began panhandling on the streets of NYC. Rumor has it that Mraz ran into a ‘psychic’ in central park who told him something along the lines of “remember to follow your dreams”.
